Post-Yu+th Art Biennale
Complicity of Anonymous Materials
Post-Yu+th – is second edition of the regional youth art biennale in Montenegro. Contextualized within the sphere of peripheral art-worlds in post-Yugoslav countries and with the chance to merge the different cases and scopes in practices of emerging artists that are exemplary and not usually able to share meeting point.
The biennial title is altered from the “ART EX-YU” which was the name of the first edition from 2018. With intent to change the stereotypical and emptied connotations that wore of the EX- prefix as well as to establish a word-play with the “Yu+th” as addition, to break a bit the notion of what the “Youth” historically and generally mean as category in arts.
This type of biennale is ‘unique’ in the region, in that it presents artwork from one representative artist for each of the countries * resulted from and after the collapse of former Yugoslavia. **
The conceptual trajectory of this biennial exhibition is taking action in translation and adaptation of another major Western European exhibition held in Fridericianum, with a title that derives from recent theory-fiction: ‘Speculations on Anonymous Materials’ (from 2013-’14).

Selected and displayed alongside each other, the works open up some particular topic of differing. Singular artworks contain their registers and perspectives by which they contribute to that which is speculated and proposed as ‘complicity’, having its counter-agency with that which is called ‘anonymous’, regarding present conditions, of that which is determined as ‘material’.
Probing these three terms with all the concrete lines of their mutual un-bonding. This un-bounding is exactly the proximity of this source-less completeness, of that which is shared through their (and our) complying, compiling and complicing.
